FDA-funded study on myo/peri risk after vaccination

Most other studies show that Moderna leads to more side effects than Pfizer. This study takes a “it’s not statistically significant” position, though it points out that Moderna seems to lead to more side effects.

The paper acknowledges flaws with its methodology.

The adjusted incidence rates were based on myocarditis or pericarditis events identified via reimbursement codes rather than a medical chart review. Thus, the incidence rates (a measure of absolute risk) might be underestimated or overestimated compared with the true risk.

The paper is associated with the CBER part of the FDA. So I don’t exactly trust it, especially given the FDA’s track record in approving COVID vaccinations for children after Maddie de Garay was injured in the Pfizer clinical trial for children.
